Skin boosters and Profhilo at a glance

What they are

Skin boosters and Profhilo are hyaluronic acid (HA) biostimulators. They are injected into the skin to support hydration, firmness, elasticity and overall skin quality. They may help the skin look fresher and feel firmer over a course. Individual results vary.

What they are not

They are not dermal fillers. The manufacturer of Profhilo states it is not a filler. A biostimulator supports the skin's own quality, it is not used to add volume or reshape a feature. Volumising HA filler is a separate service at Melatone, delivered by a different practitioner.

Who delivers them at Melatone

Profhilo and the LUMI-PRO Lip Skin Booster are delivered by Arman Zaki, GMC-registered Physician Associate (Ref A8131967). Skin boosters are delivered by Arman and by Vicki Lefeuve, Aesthetic Practitioner.

Fitzpatrick skin types I to VI, including melanin-rich skin tones. As injected treatments there is a small risk of bruising, and in deeper skin tones we take care to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation. Biostimulator, not filler

A skin booster works with your skin, not on top of it.

A dermal filler sits in the tissue to add volume to a feature. A skin booster does something different. It is hyaluronic acid placed into the skin to support hydration and to encourage the skin's own quality, firmness and elasticity. That is why these treatments are called biostimulators. Profhilo, LUMI-PRO Skin Booster and LUMI-PRO Lip Skin Booster all sit in this skin-quality category, not the volumising-filler category.

Why the distinction matters. If your goal is hydration, glow and skin quality, a biostimulator is usually the right conversation. If your goal is to add volume to a feature, that is volumising filler, a separate service delivered by a different practitioner at Melatone. We will tell you honestly which one fits your goal at your consultation, and we are happy to say when neither is needed yet.

Skin booster · biostimulator

HA placed into the skin to support hydration, firmness, elasticity and skin quality. Profhilo, LUMI-PRO Skin Booster, LUMI-PRO Lip Skin Booster. Delivered by Arman and Vicki. Not used to add volume.

Volumising HA filler · separate service

A different treatment used to add volume or reshape a feature. This is delivered at Melatone by our injector Rhianna Beckford, HCPC-registered Paramedic and Aesthetic Practitioner, not on this page. Ask us and we will point you to the right consultation.

The skin boosters we offer

Three HA biostimulators. Matched to your skin goal.

Each one is a hyaluronic acid skin booster, not a filler. Which one fits depends on your goal and is confirmed at your consultation. The LUMI-PRO treatments are bookable on Treatwell. Profhilo is arranged through a consultation, message us and we will set it up.

All three are hyaluronic acid skin boosters, not dermal fillers. Suitability, Fitzpatrick type and skin history are confirmed at consultation before any treatment. Individual results vary, and outcomes are not guaranteed.

How the protocols work

Why Profhilo is two sessions, and skin boosters are a course of three.

Skin boosters are not a one-and-done treatment. The number of sessions is set by how each product works in the skin, not by an upsell. Here is the honest version.

Profhilo H+L · two sessions

Two sessions, about four weeks apart.

Profhilo follows the manufacturer's bio-remodelling protocol. The first session introduces the stabilised hyaluronic acid into the skin. The second, about four weeks later, builds on the skin's response. The stimulation of collagen and elastin is reported to develop across both visits rather than from a single one, which is why two sessions are the standard starting protocol. After the initial two, a maintenance session is typically considered every 6 to 9 months. Individual results vary.

LUMI-PRO Skin Booster · course of three

A course of three, about two to four weeks apart.

Skin boosters work cumulatively. A single LUMI-PRO session delivers hydration, but skin quality tends to build over a short course rather than from one visit. We offer the LUMI-PRO Skin Booster as a course of three, spaced about two to four weeks apart, so hydration and skin quality develop step by step. A single session is available, and the course of three is how most people build a more visible change. Individual results vary.

The evidence, honestly stated

What the research says, and what it does not.

Laboratory research on the stabilised hyaluronic acid complex used in Profhilo has reported increased expression of type I and type III collagen in skin fibroblasts, type IV and VII collagen in keratinocytes, and elastin, compared with untreated cells and with standard high and low molecular weight HA gels. This helps explain why a bio-remodelling skin booster is approached differently from a filler. It is laboratory and early-stage evidence, and it does not promise a specific outcome for any one person.

We cite product-relevant research only. The study above relates to the stabilised HA complex used in Profhilo and is not used to support claims about any other product. Skin boosters may support hydration and skin quality, results build over a course or protocol, and individual results vary. Outcomes are not guaranteed.

FAQs from Battersea patients

Common questions.

Are skin boosters and Profhilo the same as dermal filler?

No. Skin boosters and Profhilo are hyaluronic acid biostimulators, designed to support skin hydration, firmness, elasticity and skin quality, not to add volume or reshape a feature. The manufacturer of Profhilo states clearly that it is not a dermal filler. Volumising HA filler is a separate service at Melatone, delivered by a different practitioner. If your goal is skin quality and hydration, a biostimulator may be the more appropriate option, confirmed at consultation.

Why is Profhilo done as two sessions?

Profhilo H+L follows the manufacturer's bio-remodelling protocol of two sessions, spaced about four weeks apart. The first session introduces the stabilised hyaluronic acid, and the second, about four weeks later, builds on the skin's response. The stimulation of collagen and elastin is reported to develop across both visits rather than from a single one, which is why two sessions are the standard starting protocol. After the initial two, a maintenance session is typically considered every 6 to 9 months. Individual results vary.

Why is the LUMI-PRO Skin Booster a course of three?

Skin boosters work cumulatively. A single session delivers hydration, but skin quality tends to build over a short course rather than from one visit. We offer the LUMI-PRO Skin Booster as a course of three, spaced about two to four weeks apart, so hydration and skin quality develop step by step. A single session is available, and the course of three is the way most people build a more visible change. Individual results vary.

Who delivers skin boosters and Profhilo at Melatone?

Profhilo and the LUMI-PRO Lip Skin Booster are delivered by Arman Zaki, our founder and GMC-registered Physician Associate (Ref A8131967). Skin boosters are delivered by Arman and by Vicki Lefeuve, Aesthetic Practitioner. Every treatment is preceded by a consultation and a skin assessment.

Is the LUMI-PRO Lip Skin Booster a lip filler?

No. The LUMI-PRO Lip Skin Booster is a lip hydration treatment, not a lip filler. It uses non cross-linked hyaluronic acid (22mg per 1.1ml) formulated for the delicate skin of the lips, to support hydration, smoothness and lip skin quality. It is not used to reshape the lips. Suitability is assessed at consultation.

How much do skin boosters and Profhilo cost in Battersea?

LUMI-PRO Lip Skin Booster is from £119. LUMI-PRO Skin Booster for the face is £150 for a single session, or £399 for a course of three (a £450 value at the single-session rate). Profhilo H+L is offered as a two-session protocol at £450. The LUMI-PRO treatments are bookable on Treatwell. Profhilo is arranged through a consultation, message us on WhatsApp or book a consultation to start. Prices verified 16 June 2026.

Are HA skin boosters safe for darker skin tones?

Skin boosters and Profhilo are hyaluronic acid based and are not light or heat based, so they do not target melanin the way some laser or energy devices can. They are injected treatments, so as with any injection there is a small risk of bruising, and in Fitzpatrick IV to VI skin any trauma carries a risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation. We assess your Fitzpatrick type and skin history at consultation and use a careful technique to reduce that risk. Suitability is confirmed before treatment. Individual results vary.

What downtime should I expect afterwards?

These are injected treatments, so you may see small raised bumps where the product is placed, which typically settle within a day or so, and there may be minor redness or a small chance of bruising at injection points. Most people return to normal activities the same day. We give aftercare guidance at your appointment. Individual responses vary.

How do I book?

For the LUMI-PRO Skin Booster and Lip Skin Booster, book on Treatwell or message us on WhatsApp. For Profhilo, message us on WhatsApp or book a consultation and we will arrange the two-session protocol. Every treatment starts with a consultation and a Fitzpatrick assessment.
